Sport City Tour business model is to incite people who do health sport circuits to consume (e.g., sport products, visits to monuments or parks). It offers urban sport circuits. They contacted Abonobo to see how to incite its circuit users to use them more. Abonobo proposed a mobile application combining globalization and point collection, points that can be exchanged in the participating shops on the form of advantages. This application had to meet different constraints: content loading outside the mobile network; various exercise levels to meet the user's fitness; passage control at different circuit check-points to be able to claim the benefits at the end of the circuit; exercise or place descriptions by voice synthesis to avoid stops; personal music selection on the smartphone.
The challenge was to incite potential users of Sport City Tour to subscribe to the offered service. Abonobo solution, based on geo-localized tracking of the circuits, makes sure that users really follow the circuit track and thus to be able to offer rewards proposed by shops that sponsor this service. This solution had to solve advanced technical challenges: geo-localization by check-point identification; delivery of written and oral information with and without mobile network or WiFi access.
